A Different Kind of Guide

[Verse 1]
You set the beacon facing uphill,
Its lens turned from the harbor’s seam.
It combs the pines, picks out the ridges,
And marks a path no chart had seen.

[Pre-Chorus]
I kept apologizing
For the compass in my chest.

[Chorus]
I’m not a broken signal—
I’m a different kind of guide.
Where the beam falls, roads unfold;
There are valleys past the tide.
I can carry every crooked part
And still choose where I go.
That light was never lost at all—
It found a world below.

[Verse 2]
The tower’s stairs lean toward the timber,
The map is damp beneath my hand.
I leave my rust upon the railing;
It’s proof I made it up the land.

[Pre-Chorus]
No need to turn the lantern
Just to fit the old design.

[Chorus]
I’m not a broken signal—
I’m a different kind of guide.
Where the beam falls, roads unfold;
There are valleys past the tide.
I can carry every crooked part
And still choose where I go.
That light was never lost at all—
It found a world below.

[Outro]
The morning finds the inland trail.
I walk it as I am.
