Be Strange Out Loud

[Verse 1]
You sort your buttons by the sounds they make
Name every pigeon at the bus-stop grate
You wear your thoughts like mismatched socks
And grin when somebody says, “That’s odd”

[Pre-Chorus]
I know the little laugh you hide
The wild idea you edit twice
Let it out, let it take its turn
There’s more than one right way to burn

[Chorus]
Be strange out loud, be strange on purpose
Your crooked little orbit still deserves its surface
Sing the wrong note, draw the sideways sun
The world gets wider when we’re weird as one
Be strange out loud, don’t trade your colors
Your kind of different might unlock another
If you’ve been saving your odd for a safer day
Bring it here; we’ll make it our way

[Verse 2]
You keep a list of clouds shaped like potatoes
Tell serious people jokes about tomatoes
I count the beats between your words
And love the tune nobody else has heard

[Pre-Chorus]
That spark you tuck behind your teeth
Could be the thing somebody needs
Let it out, let it take its turn
There’s more than one right way to burn

[Chorus]
Be strange out loud, be strange on purpose
Your crooked little orbit still deserves its surface
Sing the wrong note, draw the sideways sun
The world gets wider when we’re weird as one
Be strange out loud, don’t trade your colors
Your kind of different might unlock another
If you’ve been saving your odd for a safer day
Bring it here; we’ll make it our way

[Bridge]
Show me your collection of ridiculous names
Your private parade of unexplainable games
I’ll bring my own and we’ll compare
No one has to fit a standard there

[Final Chorus]
Be strange out loud, be strange on purpose
Your wild little orbit has a place in this chorus
Sing the wrong note, draw the sideways sun
The world gets wider when we’re weird as one
Be strange out loud, let your colors uncover
Your kind of different gives courage to another
If you’ve been saving your odd for a safer day
Bring it here; we’ll make it our way

[Outro]
Bring your odd, bring your true
There’s a little more world with you
