Bent But Bearing

[Verse 1]
I kept a compass made of clay
Its needle leaned the wrong-way way
A thumbprint dent, a crooked seam
Still pointed somewhere past the kiln

[Pre-Chorus]
I quit pretending I was round
The cracks can map the turning ground

[Chorus]
Bent but bearing, here I go
(Here we go!)
Every flaw can help me grow
(Help me grow!)
I am not a perfect sphere
I can steer from right here
Bent but bearing, face ahead
( face ahead! )
Toward the roads I haven’t read

[Verse 2]
Some days my north is hard to find
I ask the dent, it doesn’t lie
The glaze is chipped; the hands are mine
I’ll carry both across the line

[Pre-Chorus]
No need to sand my edges down
I’ll make a path with what I’ve found

[Chorus]
Bent but bearing, here I go
(Here we go!)
Every flaw can help me grow
(Help me grow!)
I am not a perfect sphere
I can steer from right here
Bent but bearing, face ahead
(Face ahead!)
Toward the roads I haven’t read

[Bridge]
Turn by turn, the map is made
Odd little angles don’t have to fade

[Final Chorus]
Bent but bearing, here I go
(Here we go!)
Every flaw can help me grow
(Help me grow!)
I am not a perfect sphere
I can steer from right here
Bent but bearing, face ahead
(Face ahead!)
Toward the roads I haven’t read

[Outro]
Bent but bearing—here I go
