Circus of Failed Inventions

[Verse 1]
Lead-footed compass spins in reverse
A glass-bottomed boat built for the desert
We wound up the clock with rusted tin keys
It ticks backward twice and then it just freezes
A copper umbrella that drinks every drop
A kite made of stone that refuses to float

[Chorus]
We are the Circus of Failed Inventions
Sparks in the dark of our own intentions
Look at the gears that were meant for a clock
Grinding together to shatter the lock
Nobody planned this, nobody dared
Broken and rusted, brilliantly spared
Look at the gears that were meant for a clock
Grinding together to shatter the lock

[Verse 2]
A teapot that whistles instead of keeps time
A ladder of paper to weather the climb
We stitched up the sails with nothing but air
And sailed the whole room to go nowhere

[Chorus]
We are the Circus of Failed Inventions
Sparks in the dark of our own intentions
Look at the gears that were meant for a clock
Grinding together to shatter the lock
Nobody planned this, nobody dared
Broken and rusted, brilliantly spared
Look at the gears that were meant for a clock
Grinding together to shatter the lock

[Bridge]
Tomorrow’s a canvas of mismatched hues
Nothing was right, so nothing to lose
The engine is sparking, the pistons align
An accidental masterpiece in double time

[Outro]
Look at the gears
Look at the gears
We roll into the future
[Instrumental Outro]
