I Celebrate You

[Verse 1]
You marked the morning with a bright red ribbon
For the small brave thing you thought nobody saw
You stayed beside me while my words went missing
And laughed until the heavy feeling thawed

[Pre-Chorus]
So let me say it plain, let me say it loud
Your good is worth celebrating now

[Chorus]
I celebrate you, every color you bring
Every hard-won kindness, every daring thing
When you rise, I rise; when you shine, I see
How much better this world gets with you being you and me

[Verse 2]
You learned the tune by humming through the wrong notes
You tried again, then taught the whole room—
[Chorus]
I celebrate you, every color you bring
Every hard-won kindness, every daring thing
When you rise, I rise; when you shine, I see
How much better this world gets with you being you and me

[Bridge]
Your joy is not a prize that someone has to win
It grows when we can name it, let each other in
I’ll cheer for your beginning, I’ll honor what you’ve done
And when your day is difficult, I’ll celebrate you still

[Final Chorus]
I celebrate you, every color you bring
Every hard-won kindness, every daring thing
When you rise, I rise; when you shine, I see
How much better this world gets with you being you and me

[Outro]
I celebrate you
And you celebrate me
