One Small Yes

[Verse 1]
The forecast keeps changing its mind
The ferry is tied to the pier
You fold up the map in your hands
And ask if the road is still here
I don't have a promise to sell
Or a light that can tell us the way
But your name is a fact I can hold
When the rest of the facts fall away

[Pre-Chorus]
One step, then another
The ground may move beneath us
Still, I can reach you
Still, you can reach me

[Chorus]
When the answer disappears
When the far shore can't be seen
Hope is not a perfect view
It's your hand finding mine in between
If the morning takes its time
If the plan comes apart again
We can carry one small yes
Through the weather, through the wind

[Verse 2]
The kitchen clock skips at the hour
A cup leaves a ring on the wood
You laugh at the leak in the roof
And somehow the laugh says we could
The news keeps its grip on the room
The phone keeps on lighting your face
I turn it to silent and stay
Right here in this unfinished place

[Pre-Chorus]
One step, then another
The ground may move beneath us
Still, I can reach you
Still, you can reach me

[Chorus]
When the answer disappears
When the far shore can't be seen
Hope is not a perfect view
It's your hand finding mine in between
If the morning takes its time
If the plan comes apart again
We can carry one small yes
Through the weather, through the wind

[Bridge]
No grand sign in the window
No map with every turn
Just the bread warming slowly
And the names we still remember
If all we know is this moment
Then this moment is enough
You are here, I am here
And we have not given up

[Final Chorus]
When the answer disappears
When the far shore can't be seen
Hope is not a perfect view
It's your hand finding mine in between
If the morning takes its time
If the plan comes apart again
We can carry one small yes
Through the weather, through the wind
We can carry one small yes
And begin, and begin
