The Weight You Carry

[Verse 1]
You pause beside the doorway,
while someone searches for a word.
You don’t rush to fill the silence;
you let the small truth be heard.
A hurt can change its shape
when it’s met without a test.
You look at me, and suddenly
I don’t have to hide the rest.

[Pre-Chorus]
One heart leans; another knows—
a little gentleness can travel.

[Chorus]
If I can feel the weight you carry,
I can hold the door a little wider.
If you can see the fear I’m hiding,
we can turn the hard edge kinder.
Hand to hand, the day can alter;
care moves on from me to you.
A kinder world begins in how
we choose to come through.

[Verse 2]
At the counter, voices tangle;
you ask what I meant to say.
Not to win, not to be right—
just to meet me where I’m placed.
Then I take that pause with me,
when a stranger’s patience thins.
I remember how it felt
when someone let the light back in.

[Chorus]
If I can feel the weight you carry,
I can hold the door a little wider.
If you can see the fear I’m hiding,
we can turn the hard edge kinder.
Hand to hand, the day can alter;
care moves on from me to you.
A kinder world begins in how
we choose to come through.

[Outro]
What you feel can reach me.
What I learn can travel.
One small act of seeing
makes the whole thing gentler.
