What is a 3xOsc synth?
It is a subtractive synthesizer built from three oscillators that play together. FL Studio ships a well-known one. Detuning the oscillators against each other, or setting one an octave lower, thickens a simple waveform into a lead, bass or pad.
What is the difference between the WAV and MIDI downloads?
The WAV is audio: the melody rendered through the voice you designed on this page. The MIDI file contains only notes, timing, tempo and meter. When you import it into a DAW, the instrument you assign there decides how it sounds.
Why do I need to press Start audio?
Browsers, and Safari on iPhone and iPad in particular, only allow sound after a tap or click. The first button you press creates and resumes the audio engine. After that, every control responds immediately.
Does anything get uploaded?
No. Synthesis, the piano roll and both exports run entirely in this browser. Your current melody and anything you save to My melodies are kept in local storage on this device. Download a library backup to keep a copy or move it to another browser.
How long can a melody be?
Up to 160 bars. The piano roll only draws the part of the grid you can see, so long arrangements stay responsive. Rendering a long WAV takes a few seconds.
What does the WAV tail option do?
Wrap folds the release of the last notes back onto the start, so the file loops cleanly in a sampler or DAW at exactly the song length. Cut drops the tail. Keep leaves it on the end of the file.
