[Verse 1] When the morning takes its time to find the room And yesterday still hangs around like rain I’ll set one cup beside the window Let the quiet say we’ll try again [Pre-Chorus] You don’t have to see the whole road Just the step beneath your feet [Chorus] Hope is a hand upon your shoulder A little warmth that stays when nights are long Hope is the door we leave unclosed The small brave yes that carries us along And when you’re tired, I’ll remind you There’s still a place where we belong [Verse 2] We’ll plant the seeds beside the old stone wall And watch the green insist on coming through Every crack can hold a little sunlight Every heart can learn a different tune [Pre-Chorus] You don’t have to see the whole road Just the step beneath your feet [Chorus] Hope is a hand upon your shoulder A little warmth that stays when nights are long Hope is the door we leave unclosed The small brave yes that carries us along And when you’re tired, I’ll remind you There’s still a place where we belong [Bridge] If the plans fall out of order If the answer takes its time We can make a little shelter From your hand held close to mine [Final Chorus] Hope is a hand upon your shoulder A little warmth that stays when nights are long Hope is the door we leave unclosed The small brave yes that carries us along And when you’re tired, I’ll remind you There’s still a place where we belong [Outro] One step, then another We’ll find our way together
