Beautifully Furnished Cage

[Verse 1]
I watched the kettle blink
Then watched it blink again
The toast came up too fast
So I made it happen then

I opened every app
Forgot what I was for
I walked from room to room
And found the same old floor

[Pre-Chorus]
Give me a problem
Give me a sign
Give me a reason
To spend some time

[Chorus]
I am bored, bored, bored
With the shape of my day
I am bored, bored, bored
And it won't go away
I spin the little wheel
I refresh the same page
I am bored, bored, bored
In a beautifully furnished cage

[Verse 2]
The laundry waits in piles
The clock performs its trick
A minute takes forever
Then an hour vanishes quick

I text you, "What is up?"
You answer, "Not much here"
We trade two empty sentences
And call it atmosphere

[Pre-Chorus]
Give me a danger
Give me a dare
Something with fingerprints
Something with air

[Chorus]
I am bored, bored, bored
With the shape of my day
I am bored, bored, bored
And it won't go away
I spin the little wheel
I refresh the same page
I am bored, bored, bored
In a beautifully furnished cage

[Bridge]
Maybe I need a mess
A stain I cannot hide
A train I barely catch
A door I leave open wide

Maybe I need your voice
To interrupt the room
Say something unexpected
And make the silence move

[Final Chorus]
I am bored, bored, bored
But I am not asleep
There is a match inside me
Buried underneath
I am bored, bored, bored
So come and change the frame
Kick a hole through this afternoon
And teach it a new name

[Outro]
Bored, bored, bored
Not forever
Bored, bored, bored
Do something clever
