Brief Blip

[Verse 1]
I woke up small
in a room of dust
Checked the clock
and it shrugged at me

Same old sink
same old cracked-up plate
Same old ache
in the middle of me

I looked too far
at the dark above
And the thought came down
like a heavy rain

Why does it matter
what I hold in my hands
If I vanish here
just the same

[Pre-Chorus]
Then your laugh broke through
like sun in a window
One warm second
and I came back

Maybe meaning lives
in the blink, not the promise
Maybe this breath
is the track

[Chorus]
Brief blip, brief blip
Hold it while it shines
Brief blip, brief blip
You are one of a kind
If it all goes quiet
let the joy climb in
Brief blip, brief blip
This is where you live

[Verse 2]
I count the years
like stones in my palm
They turn to sand
when I squeeze too hard

But there’s your face
in a bowl of pears
There’s your name
in a grocery cart

There’s the dog on the floor
with your socks in his teeth
There’s the sky
in a spoon of tea

Tiny things
with a pulse of gold
Telling me
to let them be

[Pre-Chorus]
I don’t need forever
to taste what’s holy
I don’t need more
than this streetlight hour

Let the question hang
and the feet keep moving
Let the heart stay open
to the flower

[Chorus]
Brief blip, brief blip
Hold it while it shines
Brief blip, brief blip
You are one of a kind
If it all goes quiet
let the joy climb in
Brief blip, brief blip
This is where you live

[Bridge]
Maybe the void is real
Maybe I’m a spark
Maybe both can sit
in the same old dark

I don’t have to win
against the empty sky
I can laugh inside it
and be alive

[Final Chorus]
Brief blip, brief blip
Hold it while it shines
Brief blip, brief blip
You are one of a kind
If it all goes quiet
let the joy climb in
Brief blip, brief blip
This is where you live

Brief blip, brief blip
I’m not here for long
Brief blip, brief blip
So I might as well sing
If it all goes quiet
let the joy climb in
Brief blip, brief blip
This is where you live
