I Circle the Garden

[Chorus]
Every flower says, “Come down, come taste”
I beat my wings in a nervous haste
If I choose this bloom, all the others close
So I circle the garden and nobody knows

[Verse 1]
A tulip holds a tiny cup of rain
A daisy deals in gold and pollen grain
The rose has velvet tucked behind its thorns
I make a map, then tear it up by dawn

[Pre-Chorus]
You say, “The sweetest thing is here”
I say, “But what’s beyond the sphere?”
My feet stay folded, wings run wild
A very busy, undecided child

[Chorus]
Every flower says, “Come down, come taste”
I beat my wings in a nervous haste
If I choose this bloom, all the others close
So I circle the garden and nobody knows

[Verse 2]
The violet nods like it has heard this speech
The foxglove keeps its counsel out of reach
I’ve sampled every scent from up above
And never once got pollen on my gloves

[Bridge]
Maybe one small landing won’t erase the sky
Maybe every “what if” doesn’t have to fly
You hold out your hand; I hover, then descend
A whole wide garden doesn’t vanish at the end

[Final Chorus]
Every flower says, “Come down, come taste”
I beat my wings, but I slow my haste
I choose this bloom; the others still can grow
There’s more than one way for a heart to know

[Outro]
One petal, one breath, the garden stays wide
I land for a moment—then open my eyes
