Leave Some Waiting Here

[Verse 1]
You keep a chair pulled out for every tired friend
You learn the shape of all their storms before they end
But when the room goes quiet and the last coat’s gone
You leave your own heart waiting with the porch light on

[Pre-Chorus]
You don’t have to empty every cup
To prove that you can care
There’s a place inside your open hands
For something of you there

[Chorus]
Save a little love for yourself
You’re not the last name on the list
Give it freely, give it well
But keep a little kindness in your grip
There’s enough to go around
No one has to disappear
Love them with your whole wide heart
And leave some waiting here

[Verse 2]
You remember how your sister takes her tea
You call your father back before he has to ask you twice
You carry extra groceries up the narrow stairs
Then skip the meal you made because you’re sure somebody else needs yours

[Pre-Chorus]
You don’t have to earn a softer day
By fixing every ache
Even roots need rain before they lift
The branches others take

[Chorus]
Save a little love for yourself
You’re not the last name on the list
Give it freely, give it well
But keep a little kindness in your grip
There’s enough to go around
No one has to disappear
Love them with your whole wide heart
And leave some waiting here

[Bridge]
When you say, “I need a minute,”
That’s not turning love away
It’s a door you leave unlatched
So you can meet them whole someday
Take the long way home at sunset
Let the unanswered message wait
You are someone worth returning to
Not only someone others save

[Final Chorus]
Save a little love for yourself
You’re not the last name on the list
Give it freely, give it well
Keep your own name in the kindness
There’s enough to go around
Let the good come back in here
Love them with your whole wide heart
And leave some waiting here

[Outro]
Leave some waiting here
For you
