[Verse 1] I have tried to draw the borders Make the crooked edges clean Put each feeling in a small box Say exactly what it means But the heart ignores the labels And the map becomes a maze Every person leaves a color That I cannot wash away [Pre-Chorus] Maybe love was never meant To make perfect sense [Chorus] So I'll love you anyway Through the knots I cannot name Through the guilt and contradictions Through the rules I rearrange I won't make my heart grow smaller Just to make the picture straight If loving you makes life more tangled I'll love you anyway [Verse 2] Some connections fit like daylight Some arrive like pouring rain Some are quiet, some are reckless Some are tenderness and pain I have hurt from wanting closeness I have feared what closeness costs Still I'd rather bear the questions Than pretend the love was lost [Outro] Tie another knot around me I will carry what it weighs Love was never clean or simple I'll love you anyway
