Pumpkin Porch

[Verse 1]
The porch light’s shaking
In the October wind
Paper ghosts are dangling
From the string again
Tiny boots on pavement
And a bucket full of gold
Your grin says trouble
Before the door swings open

[Pre-Chorus]
Then the screen door creaks
And the whole street leans in
One little knock
And the night begins

[Chorus]
Paper ghosts, paper ghosts
Spinning in the air
Paper ghosts, paper ghosts
I know you’re almost there
Tiny boots on pavement
Gold in your hand
Paper ghosts, paper ghosts
Come take my hand

[Verse 2]
Candy wrappers shining
On the front step’s edge
Your laugh hits first
Then the joke you never said
Pumpkin on the table
Flickers in the glass
You bring the whole house back
When you come in fast

[Pre-Chorus]
Then the screen door creaks
And the whole street leans in
One little knock
And the night begins

[Chorus]
Paper ghosts, paper ghosts
Spinning in the air
Paper ghosts, paper ghosts
I know you’re almost there
Tiny boots on pavement
Gold in your hand
Paper ghosts, paper ghosts
Come take my hand

[Bridge]
If the wind gets wild
We’ll stand right here
Wrapped in cheap costumes
And a little cheer
No one can scare us
When you’re this near

[Final Chorus]
Paper ghosts, paper ghosts
Spinning in the air
Paper ghosts, paper ghosts
I know you’re almost there
Tiny boots on pavement
Gold in your hand
Paper ghosts, paper ghosts
Come take my hand
