[Verse 1] I kept my hands inside my coat Watched every open door swing wide You said the road was worth the bruise I said I'd rather stay inside [Pre-Chorus] Then one hard turn, one borrowed chance And all my careful plans came loose [Chorus] I'd rather have the scar Than never leave the room I'd rather take the fall And find out what I could do Let the mark stay where it is A map of where we are I gave my heart a reason I'd rather have the scar [Verse 2] Your name was written on the ticket Rain came through the station roof We missed the train, we laughed too loud And found a better way to move [Pre-Chorus] Every crack let daylight in Every risk made something true [Chorus] I'd rather have the scar Than never leave the room I'd rather take the fall And find out what I could do Let the mark stay where it is A map of where we are I gave my heart a reason I'd rather have the scar [Bridge] If I break, I break awake If I bend, I bend toward life Keep the proof beneath my skin I was there; I took the ride [Final Chorus] I'd rather have the scar Than never leave the room I'd rather take the fall And find out what I could do Let the mark stay where it is A map of where we are I gave my heart a reason I'd rather have the scar [Outro] I'd rather have the scar
