Save It

[Verse 1]
I count my dollars by hand
Lay them out on the table
Tap the bills in a line
Try to make them stay stable
Rent took a bite
Groceries took the rest
I swear I was ahead
Then the week came in and pressed

[Pre-Chorus]
I do the math twice
Still it slips through
Every little raise
Gets swallowed by the blue
I fold it, I hide it
In a paper jar
But the prices keep climbing
Like they know where you are

[Chorus]
Save it, save it
Watch it fade away
Save it, save it
Gone before the day
Save it, save it
I need a better plan
Save it, save it
I’m doing all I can

[Verse 2]
I cut back on the extras
Changed the brand, skipped the treat
Kept the lights low in the room
Skipped a ride and walked the street
Every saved-up dollar
Feels lighter in my palm
Like a receipt in the rain
Like a promise going calm

[Pre-Chorus]
I do the math twice
Still it slips through
Every little raise
Gets swallowed by the blue
I fold it, I hide it
In a paper jar
But the prices keep climbing
Like they know where you are

[Chorus]
Save it, save it
Watch it fade away
Save it, save it
Gone before the day
Save it, save it
I need a better plan
Save it, save it
I’m doing all I can

[Bridge]
If I hold on tight
Will it last the night?
If I skip one more thing
Do I get to feel alright?
I’m not asking for gold
Just a little room to breathe
A small stack of hope
That don’t leave me

[Final Chorus]
Save it, save it
Watch it fade away
Save it, save it
Gone before the day
Save it, save it
I need a better plan
Save it, save it
I’m doing all I can

Save it, save it
Watch it fade away
Save it, save it
I’m doing all I can
