Tomorrow’s Ahead of Me

[Intro: Ticking percussion, accelerating synth]
Faster, faster
Again, again

[Verse 1]
Monday I learned a language
Tuesday it changed its name
Wednesday I taught the lesson
Thursday it changed again
Friday I built a future
Saturday proved it old
Sunday I counted the things
I still didn’t know

[Pre-Chorus: Rising polyrhythm]
I love the evolution
I dread the acceleration
Every new discovery
Becomes an obligation

[Chorus: Soaring, melodic syncopation]
I’m ahead of yesterday
But tomorrow’s ahead of me
Every time I understand
There’s another thing to be
Keep up, catch up
The intervals are shrinking
I love the world becoming
But it never stops becoming

[Verse 2]
Every breakthrough gets me excited
Every breakthrough makes me tense
Every skill I spent years earning
Has a shorter relevance
I want to taste the future
I want to understand it all
But the more I learn to climb
The faster mountains grow

[Bridge: Glitch percussion accelerates]
A year became a month
A month became a week
A week became a day
A day became a blink
(Think!)
(Learn!)
(Change!)
(Repeat!)

[Final Chorus: Explosive harmonies]
I’m ahead of yesterday
But tomorrow’s ahead of me
I’m addicted to discovery
And exhausted by the speed
Keep up, catch up
Can I ever just exist?
The things that make me feel alive
Are the things that won’t let me rest

[Outro: Everything decelerates]
Maybe I don’t need to know
Everything
Before everyone
Every time

[One final ticking sound]
