Build The Wings

[Verse 1]
No map in my hands, no sure thing to say
The ground gives way and I’m already away
I reach for a shape that isn’t there yet
A breath, then a choice, then a foothold I get

[Pre-Chorus]
I thought I had to know
Before I let it go
But the answer starts to form
When I’m out inside the storm

[Chorus]
Build the wings on the way down
Build the wings on the way down
One hand finds the edge, one heart learns how
Build the wings on the way down

[Verse 2]
The air keeps changing; I change with it too
A thousand small motions become something true
I wasn’t born ready, I’m making the start
The fall is a question that opens the heart

[Pre-Chorus]
I thought I had to know
Before I let it go
But the answer starts to form
When I’m out inside the storm

[Chorus]
Build the wings on the way down
Build the wings on the way down
One hand finds the edge, one heart learns how
Build the wings on the way down

[Bridge]
No promise, no plan
Just the reach of my hands
Turn the doubt into motion
Find the lift in the open

[Final Chorus]
Build the wings on the way down
Build the wings on the way down
One hand finds the edge, one heart learns how
Build the wings on the way down
Build the wings on the way down
