Here's to the Odd Ones

[Verse 1]
You draw a blue sun on the lunchroom wall
I make up names for the pigeons downtown
They say, “Be sensible,” like that says it all
But I like how your thoughts take the scenic route around

[Pre-Chorus]
When you show me the thing you made
I won’t ask you to make it tame
I’ll say, “That’s yours—keep going”
You say the same when I do my thing

[Chorus]
Here’s to the odd ones, loud and true
To the bright strange plans we follow through
If your idea has a tail or ten
I’ll cheer it on; you cheer mine then
We don’t have to match to belong
We make each other braver all along

[Verse 2]
You wear a paper hat to the bus stop in June
I give my plants ridiculous names
You turn a missed note into a tune
I turn a wrong answer into a game

[Pre-Chorus]
When the old rules start to press
We can trade a little confidence
You say, “That’s yours—keep going”
I’ll say the same when you do your thing

[Chorus]
Here’s to the odd ones, loud and true
To the bright strange plans we follow through
If your idea has a tail or ten
I’ll cheer it on; you cheer mine then
We don’t have to match to belong
We make each other braver all along

[Bridge]
No need to explain every color you choose
I see you, I’m here, I’m making mine too

[Final Chorus]
Here’s to the odd ones, loud and true
To the bright strange plans we follow through
If your idea has a tail or ten
I’ll cheer it on; you cheer mine then
We don’t have to match to belong
We make each other braver all along
[Outro]
Keep going. I’m cheering you on.
