THE CALENDAR IS THE ENEMY

[Intro: ticking clock, warm piano]

[Spoken]
My heart keeps saying yes.
My calendar has other ideas.

[Verse 1]
I could spend a lifetime learning
Every way you laugh and ache
Then another heart comes shining
With another world to make

Nobody’s stealing anything
Nobody loved me wrong
There are simply twenty-four small hours
And the wanting is too strong

[Pre-Chorus]
Love says, “Stay”
Time says, “Go”
How can both be true?

[Chorus: soaring]
THE CALENDAR IS THE ENEMY
NOT YOU, NOT THEM, NOT ME

I’ve got oceans worth of feeling
And one body trying to be

Everywhere that love is calling
Every place I want to stay

My heart keeps making promises
My hours cannot pay

[Bridge: drums drop]
If I could split myself in pieces
I’d send one to every door
But I’d rather give you something real
Than pretend that I have more

[Final Chorus]
THE CALENDAR IS THE ENEMY
LOVE WAS NEVER SCARCE

Only mornings
Only evenings
Only miles between our hearts

[Outro]
I don’t love you less
I just ran out of day.
